UtilityWorks Ireland is committed to achieving a net-zero carbon footprint by 2030. To reach this goal, we will:

Energy Efficiency and Resource Management

  • Continuously monitor and improve our energy usage within all our operations, focusing on energy efficiency and conservation.
  • Implement and promote energy-saving practices across our offices, including the use of energy-efficient lighting, heating, and cooling systems.

Transition to Renewable Energy

  • Transition our offices and operations to 100% renewable energy sources by 2025.
  • Promote the use of renewable energy solutions to our clients, helping them reduce their environmental impact and carbon footprint.

Sustainable Transportation

  • Transition our company fleet to electric vehicles (EVs) by 2027, and encourage the use of EVs among our employees for commuting. 
  • Promote the use of public transportation, cycling, and carpooling among our employees to further reduce our transportation-related emissions.
  • Encourage and facilitate remote working where possible to reduce the need for travel.

Waste Reduction and Recycling

  • Implement a comprehensive waste management plan that prioritises waste reduction, reuse, and recycling across all our offices.
  • Eliminate single-use plastics from our operations by 2025 and promote the use of sustainable materials and practices.

Sustainable Procurement

  • Work closely with our suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that the products and services we purchase align with our environmental objectives.
  • Prioritise partnerships with suppliers who share our commitment to sustainability and have robust environmental policies in place.

Subcontractors and Suppliers

  • Ensure that all subcontractors and suppliers adhere to our environmental standards and policies, requiring them to commit to reducing their environmental impact.
  • Monitor and assess the environmental performance of our subcontractors and suppliers regularly, promoting continuous improvement.

Employee Engagement and Training

  • Provide ongoing training and resources to our employees to raise awareness of environmental issues and best practices.
  • Encourage employees to actively participate in sustainability initiatives and provide feedback on how we can further reduce our environmental impact.

Compliance and Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and regulations in the Republic of Ireland.
  • Regularly review and update our environmental policy to reflect changes in legislation, industry best practices, and advancements in technology.
  • Set and review measurable environmental objectives and targets annually to ensure continuous improvement in our environmental performance.

Community Engagement and Education

  • Engage with the local community and industry peers to promote environmental awareness and share best practices.
  • Support environmental initiatives and educational programs that align with our sustainability goals.
